We organize jungle trekking into the Gunung Leuser National Park, Bukit Lawang, to watch the orangutans and other jungle wildlife. All our guides are licensed and very experienced, and Obiwan, the owner of Indra Valley Inn, is a 3rd generation trekking guide from Bukit Lawang. Practice trek (3 hours)
We advise you to choose this trek if you have never been in the jungle before, or if you only have a short time to stay in Bukit Lawang.

Itinerary:

Start-time: After breakfast. A short walk into the jungle with an introduction to the jungle and its vegetation. Get to know medical plants and learn about their use. See orangutans (with a little luck) and other animals. Return to Bukit Lawang by lunchtime.

1-day trek in Bukit Lawang

Itinerary:

The trek starts after breakfast between 8am and 9am. We walk around 5 – 6 hours into the jungle looking for orangutans, discovering medicinal plants and learning about their use. Around noon there is a short break for lunch in the jungle, with the rest of the trek continuing after lunch. You can choose either to walk back to Bukit Lawang or to travel back by tube-rafting down the river.

Minimum group-size: two persons

Licensed guide, permits to enter the national park, lunch and fruit during the trek and tube rafting back to Bukit Lawang.

2-day trek in Bukit Lawang

Itinerary:
Day One
The trek starts after breakfast around 8am and 9am. We walk around 6-7 hours into the jungle looking for orangutans, discovering medicinal plants and “jungle-food” — and learning about their use. Relax at the camp in the afternoon and take a swim in the clean jungle river. Preparation of dinner. 

Day Two
This day is very relaxing. No trekking in the jungle, but after breakfast you can go to the waterfall and take a natural shower and / or just relax at the campsite. At lunchtime we go back by tube rafting down the river to Bukit Lawang.

Price per person: IDR 1,500,000
Minimum group-size: two persons.

Price includes:
Licensed guide, permits to enter the national park, food and water during trekking, tent, sleeping mattress, sleeping bag/sheet and tube rafting back to Bukit Lawang.

3-day trek in Bukit Lawang

Itinerary:

Day One
The trek starts after breakfast around 8am and 9am. We walk around 6-7 hours into the jungle looking for orangutans and other animals, discovering medicinal plants and learning about their use. Around noon there is a lunch break, before the trek continues through to the camp site. Take a rest at the camp, get a hot drink and take a refreshing shower in the small stream. Preparation of dinner.

Day Two
After breakfast, we get ready for the 2nd day trek. We walk around 5-6 hours in the jungle, moving to another camp site, while we enjoy the wildlife, discover “jungle-food” and learn about their use. We get lunch in the jungle, before we continue the trek to the campsite near the river. Relax at the camp and swim in the clean jungle river. Preparation of dinner.

Day Three
In the morning of the 3rd day you can choose between a short trek into the jungle, or just relaxing at the campsite. After lunch we travel back to Bukit Lawang. You can choose either to walk back to Bukit Lawang or to travel back by tube-rafting down the river.
